The reality is that the Mid Night Club was just a car club. Even the oft mentioned quote below was a work of fiction. The legend of the club being all secretive and hush-hush with coded messages in newspapers to announce meet ups were all fiction, concocted by the media to increase the club’s allure. Quite the opposite in fact, as the history of the Mid Night Club is actually pretty well documented. The Mid Night Club was not as private and secretive as the legend foretold. The true story of the Mid Night Club, this allegedly super secretive elite street racing team, is not however, as all has perceived it to be. That is the story of the Mid Night Club, or what it is perceived to be by many, anyway. A legendary club that served as the inspiration to manga and anime, even popular video games, where even the cars themselves (like the Blackbird 911 and the Devil Z) are immortalised as maximum velocity legends. A club that dominated the Wangan in the 80s and 90s, so much so that its name is now synonymous with that Tokyo expressway. A club consisting of a group of extraordinary gentlemanly racers, with a strict code of conduct on and off the street. Most in the automotive world already have at least a vague sense of what it is, a super secretive maximum velocity street racing club where only the elite are allowed admission.
